Jennifer Thieme

Science Manager (she/her)
Jennifer cultivates the MJV's network of researchers, research entities, and partner science initiatives to collaboratively advance monarch conservation research. She also coordinates MJV's research and monitoring projects throughout the U.S. Research may include topics such as how site preparation and management affect habitat characteristics, or what the timing or distribution of monarch reproduction is on conserved lands. She works with MJV partners to increase engagement in research, connect partners with similar research interests, and share MJV's and partners' research outcomes. Jennifer works with the MJV science team to maintain the Integrated Monarch Monitoring Program, encourage its use, and share findings from the program with the broader conservation community. Jennifer received her BS in Environmental Science from Carroll University in Wisconsin, and her MS in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology from The Ohio State University. Prior to joining MJV in 2018, Jennifer worked on a variety of grassland bird and vegetation research projects, and for several conservation organizations working to protect water quality and wildlife habitat in the Midwest. In her spare time, she enjoys birding, enhancing her urban prairie garden, and challenging herself with literature in Spanish.
