MJV’s newest partner is Goin’ Native Therapeutic Gardens in San Juan Capistrano, California. Founded in 2009, their mission is to “help people, plants, and pollinators thrive together”. As a small nonprofit organization, Goin’ Native works with the local community to offer educational resources and opportunities to foster care for pollinators and the environment.
Highlights of Goin’ Native’s projects include a weekly park program caring for and maintaining certified butterfly gardens in Los Rios Park in San Juan Capistrano. They also help individuals within the community develop their own pollinator-friendly gardens, vegetable gardens, and sensory gardens with a focus on using native plants.
In addition to these year-round projects, Goin’ Native hosts an annual Festival of the Butterflies to educate the public on the importance of native plants and pollinators, especially monarch butterflies. This year, they’ve taken their festival virtual! Check out the Virtual 2020 Festival of the Butterflies on vimeo. MJV is thrilled to have been invited to collaborate with Goin’ Native on this year’s festival.
MJV is happy to welcome a partner working with their community to foster care for pollinators and the use of native plants!
